Journal Culture

Adding and access

  • Subscribe or unsubscribe at will, no introduction needed, though if you wanna tell us where you followed us from, we'd definitely appreciate it.

  • I think lurking is FINE, provided you aren't a spam bot or a dead journal, unless I know you personally or the journal in question is a writing/art/graphics journal (see access line). Take care of yourself. I don't mind nonverbal/semiverbal/low-spoon comments, for more detail see commenting policy below.

Access
  • I grant access to everyone I subscribe to.

  • I regularly delete dead/deleted journals each quarter unless I know you personally or the journal in question is a writing/art/graphics journal.

  • I do not add/subscribe to journals that appear to be spam.

Problematic Folx & Posts
  • If I am accessing/subscribing to an abusive or otherwise Problematic person to you PLEASE DM me. That will change.

  • If I do/say something problematic, please DM me respectfully and point me to resources to correct the material.

  • If I haven't content-warned something and there is something you would like me to add as a content warning, please also DM me.

Commenting Policy

I welcome and encourage comments on The DreamWriters Dreaming [personal profile] dreamwriters & [livejournal.com profile] dreamwriters.

I am okay with any of the following:

  • Single or two word comments, e.g. , woo!, yay, yes, no, please, thanks, absolutely, agreed, seconded, so much, no way, etc.

  • “+1” or Facebook style “like”.

  • Otherwise brief comments, e.g. single sentences.

  • A comment that is a punctuation mark(s) to let me know you read, e.g. a period, an asterisk.

  • A comment that is a punctuation mark(s) to express your response, e.g. an exclamation mark or question mark.

  • A comment that is an emoticon(s) to express your response, e.g. \o/, <3, :), :(, :-D, :-P, etc.

  • Gif and image comments are also ok, but if possible please image-describe any graphics so my followers using screen readers can follow along.

  • Long, wordy comments. Rambling is okay.

  • Comments and links on related topics.

  • Comments on single links, entities, paragraphs, topics, or words in the entry. I may throw out a lot of things each blog post, and I don’t expect anyone to have to come up with a coherent comment on each and every one of them to comment.

  • Sequential commentary. It’s okay to comment about one thing as you read it, then another thing in a separate comment, then a third thing after you’ve chewed on it for a while and feel ready to talk about it.

  • Talking amongst yourselves in the comments is fine. I like creating a place where people get to interact!

I also welcome:

  • Comments on older entries, access-locked or public.

  • Comments on VERY OLD entries, access-locked or public. I have many years of archives.

  • Comments from people who are not subscribed to me.

  • Comments from people who I’ve never met.

  • Comments from people who haven’t talked to me in awhile.

  • Comments from people who’ve never talked to me.

NB: Posts tagged with "POST TYPE: THREAD-NECRO" and "POST TYPE: AUDIENCE INTERACTION" are usually able to be commented on retroactively no matter how old they are (unless the content itself says they're time-sensitive).

However, in some instances comments are subject to be frozen, screened, or deleted.

This includes:

  • Comments with irrelevant content that doesn’t fall in one of the above allowed comment types.

  • Comments using profanity or vulgar language.

  • Comments including derogatory language, or language/concepts that could be deemed offensive.

  • Statements that attack another person individually.

This is how I reply to comments:

  • We try to reply in a timely manner, but we're often very low-spoon when it comes to commenting, so sometimes we might comment in what looks like binges.

  • So if you REALLY want a response please SAY SOMETHING up-front

Please follow my commenting rules, and help me to keep this site a safe and constructive place for discussion.

I reserve the right to delete, screen or freeze comments submitted to this blog at any time without notice.

This comment rules policy is subject to change at any time.
