And here I am again with another Cat Spotlight, two cats this week!

This week's nominee is a previously spotlighted cat who's still here.

Sugar Plum

Hi, I'm Sugar Plum. I'm a very fiesty cat when I'm excited, and I'm excited a lot, especially when someone's paying attention to me. I'm looking for an owner who can keep up with me and a home where I can play and run around. I also like to chase toys around my cage.

Phil
Hey! I'm Phil. I'm like a big teddy bear who loves to play and loves cuddles even more. I'm curious at everything and I love attention and being talked to.

Ok, so this week I'm just going to post about my nominee. None of the other cats today really held my attention and it was a rush week and I may have made a few mistakes here and there in my rush of seeing new cats on the floor. D:

this week's fan favorite nominee is...

Pluto

Hi, I'm Pluto. I'm a sweetheart of a cat. I came to the MSPCA because my owner couldn't keep me. I'm a bit quieter than the cats around me, so people tend not to notice me at first. As far as cats go, I'm the best of both worlds! I can be mellow and playful. People tell me I've grown up a lot since I was first placed on the adoption floor -- I'm not as shy as I was before. :)

None of these cats were nominees this week -- it's hard to pick a nominee when I don't have bonding time to compare the cats to, so this week you get a look at a sampling of three of the cats I took care of today.

Precious
Hi, I'm Precious. I came to the MSPCA because I fell out of a third story window and my owner couldn't afford the treatment. I lost one of my front legs in the fall and I'm learning to get around without it. In spite of this, I'm a very affectionate cat who will come over to greet you and I also love snuggling up on my blankets for you to pet me.

Puma
Hey you! Yeah, you! I'm Puma! I'm a very talkative, hyper, playful guy looking for a home where someone can play with me as often as possible and give me space to run around. I'd love an owner who can keep up with me! I LOVE chasing balls and the birdie plushie that squeaks around my cage.

Sugar Plum

Hi, I'm Sugar Plum. I'm a very fiesty cat when I'm excited, and I'm excited a lot, especially when someone's paying attention to me. Like Puma, I'm also looking for an owner who can keep up with me and a home where I can play and run around. I also like to chase toys around my cage.

No cat spotlight this week because I don't know any of the cats on the floor this week that well -- and there weren't many on the floor while I was volunteering today. (The End of Summer II Adopt-a-thon was a huge success and almost all the cats on the floor got adopted YAY!)

And here I am again with another Cat Spotlight!

Two cats this week!

Mystic
Mystic is my fan favorite nominee for the week.

Hi, I'm Mystic. I'm over a year old. I came to the MSPCA because I had a teen pregnancy and had kittens in someone's basement. Now that all my kittens have homes, I'm looking for a home for me!

I'm an affectionate and sweet lady who is sometimes shy and sometimes playful.

I'm looking to be an only cat because I want to have my owner's full attention!

Midnight
Hi, I'm Midnight. I'm a 13 year old gentleman cat and I came to the MSPCA because my owner was moving and couldn't take me with them. I'm a bit reserved and shy, but very affectionate once I get used to you.

This is the start of an unofficial weekly blog posting I'm going to be doing to highlight some of the AWESOME cats I work with as a volunteer at the Boston MSPCA-Angell Animal Adoption Center.

One cat will always be my fan favorite nominee, but I will also spotlight other cats on the floor that I've worked with!

Nina

Nina's my official fan favorite nominee for this week.

Hi I'm Nina!

I came to the MSPCA because someone found me in their backyard. I'm 1-year-old cat and I'm still hoping someone will adopt me, though I'm a bit shy. My favorite thing in the world is piling all my blankets up in a corner and curling up!

I might not be the first cat to approach you, but I'm very sweet and I love pets.

Cleo

Hi, I'm Cleo!

I'm a 7-month-old kitten who got spotlighted last week since I'm finally on the adoption floor!

I came to the MSPCA after someone found me when I got thrown out a car window. :(
I had a fractured rear leg and had to have surgery, but I'm recovering now and healthy and available for adoption.

I still limp a little sometimes, but I'm a very enthusiastic and high-energy, playful kitten who's curious about everything! I love chasing toys, napping in or on my box, and getting lots and lots of attention.

Shannon

I'm Shannon!

I'm a 1 year old and some months cat. I came to the MSPCA because my owner was allergic.

I'm a high-energy, playful lady who insists on being an only cat, since I want to have my future owner's full attention!

I play a bit rough, so I'm best suited to a family with either no children or gentle older children.

Don't be intimidated by the fact that I insist on getting attention when you're near my cage. I just love it when people pay attention to me! I also love chasing toys!

Class for the summer term is over.

I wrote this for Writing Our Stories Part 2 and I'm really proud of how far I've come... I don't often talk much publicly about being depressed in high school or what I was dealing with back then, so getting it out in writing publicly is a really powerful thing and I'm glad I've finally managed to reframe that story.

I also have a Future PlanTM for eventually getting a job at a pet store or offering to be a cat sitter around the neighborhood, though depending on what classes I get into for the fall, I may hold off on pursuing that field for awhile.

Meanwhile, I also have a volunteer job at the local MSPCA as a Cat Cuddler and Condo Cleaner, so I get up ridiculously early on Monday mornings so I can spend two hours socializing lots of cats and kittens.

We have some really awesome cats and kittens on the floor right now, but a couple of them have been around for awhile.

I'm thinking of making posts about the cats that I see on the floor that are either my fan favorites (I can only nominate one fan-favorite a week at the shelter, but there are so many really sweet cats on our floor and summer is our busiest season so I always nominate the cat I love most that day, even though i'd love to see a bunch of them on that list) or the cats that I really want to see adopted because while they're so affectionate, they may have behavioral issues that are making less people want to adopt them.
