STEP ONE
  • Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ/Dreamwidth/Blog/Facebook Notes. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want

  • If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]

  • Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
  • Surf around your friendslist (or friends of friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list.

  • If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

  • You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Hi I'm Emmy. I'm 31 and I've been doing this for several years now. This year unfortunately I'm temporarily housed so i'm going all digital with my Holiday Wishes list.

  1. Holiday e-cards/slowly app e-postcards. My slowly id is EL9KWW, my email is listed at the end of this post. I prefer secular/solstice/happy-everything cards, but also ok with other winter holidays.

  2. Donations toward final utility bills. We left our old apartment and the utility final bills are kinda high and OVER my income since for a few paperwork reasons energy assistance didn’t pull through before moving out and I accidentally left the heat on too high the day we moved out. So anything anyone can spare would be awesome. My paypal is ehryniewi[at]gmail[dot]com.

  3. Amazon wishlist. It’s all digital separated by category. My email below SHOULD be the gifting email on ALL the outside links for us. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/34YM3BN4KFRET?ref_=wl_share

  4. Gift Cards: Amazon, EA/Origin, Bandcamp

  5. A couple folx to help design tarot spreads (I do fandom-inspired readings by others and my own creations, and I uh need some testers/helpers to help create some spreads for fandoms I am less familiar with (like I had a request for a Steven Universe spread when I first decided I wanted to market this way, but I’m honestly not so familiar with that universe and am SOOO far behind on canon) and I definitely need some suggestions for smaller spreads [5 cards or less] and fandoms for them.

  6. More folx following my public journal https://dreamwriters.dreamwidth.org OR http://dreamwriters.livejournal.com

  7. Fics. My general standing Dear Creator letter can be found here: https://dreamwriters.dreamwidth.org/52150.html

  8. Art of my OCs (both fandom and original)! My AO3 and Original Fiction masterpost are boh on my journal. [Feel free to ask me for their character sheets, avatar images, and/or PBs.]

  9. Writing prompts

  10. Executive Dysfunction-friendly recipes - dietary restrictions: no fish/shellfish, no nuts including peanuts and nutbutters, limit dairy

How It Works:

Post to your DW/LJ/Facebook Notes (publicly or locked) with a list of things you want to receive for the holidays. They can be anything, from a personalized DW/LJ icon or drabble to a new house because your old one is dirty - as long as all the items on the list are things that you genuinely want.

If there's anything on your list that needs to come to you through the mail, make your shipping address available, but please be safe about it and don't post that part publicly - just specify how people should go about

Next:

Look around your circle/friends list for others who have posted the meme. If you see a wish you can grant, GO FOR IT. You might find a little thing you can do for free that will make someone happy, or you might just discover that a stranger is longing for the exact boxed set of DVDs that you no longer want.

Don't spend money unless you want to, and don't commit to more than you can handle without stressing yourself. There are no rules to this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. If someone surprises you with a gift certificate to the restaurant you never thought you'd get to go to, don't feel guilty or obliged to return the favor. The point is to spread around a lot of opportunities to grant wishes - use them as you see fit, and remember that your list gives those opportunities to others!

Hi I’m Emmy, I’ve been doing this on and off for several years; had to skip last year because a housemate didn’t like sharing the address. :D Now that it’s officially my address I can participate again!
01. Holiday cards - I prefer Yule/Secular/ Generic holiday, but if you have religious cards that aren't super denomination-specific I'll accept those too.
02. Stickers - I always get neat things when I ask for stickers and I love the variety I get. I don't really care what kind of stickers you give me: seasonal, anime, random, spiritual. I use them in journals and for ATCs.
04. A baby doll.
05. A long distance USB WiFi card
06. Amazon Wishlist - http://a.co/ik6IRif Sidebar is sorted by category/subcategory the default list is stuff that either doesn't fit anywhere or things I haven't sorted yet. I've changed up the sorting again this year because it was starting to get unwieldy. I also have a hidden subcategory list for kink/nsfw/innerkid stuff just let me know if you want to view that one.
07. Gift Cards: DollarTree, Amazon, Ebay are preferred.
08. Care Packages! I have some restrictions here though: please avoid: fragrances (unless all-natural, food scented things are usually better than florals), fish/shellfish, treenuts/peanuts, and dairy.
09. help me catch up on bills (and keep my apartment). My paypal is ehryniewi@gmail.com
10. More followers for my journal here!

If you're interested in fulfilling a wish that requires an address, you can either DM me here, on dreamwidth/LJ, or at my email address which is ehryniewi[AT]gmail[dot]com, please put Holiday Wishes & the wish # in the subject so I can filter these out so they don't get lost in my inbox. Thank you!

My wishlist from 2015 still stands.

Additional wishes:

1. I musebox occasionally as Apollo from Ace Attorney in all his versions and desperately want more happy fanart I can icon because canon Apollo honestly doesn't smile much.

2. If anyone is familiar with Diane Duane's Young Wizards series I could use suggestions for a PB who would fit the description of the Esemeli incarnation of the Lone Power.

3. More people in Jim C. Hines's Magic Ex Libris fandom. I highly recommend this series to sci-fi/fantasy readers. I blathered a little about it for a fellow fan for the December Blogging Meme on my personal journal, if you need some more reasons for reading it.

4. I could use alpha and beta readers for both fanfic and original work.

Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

01. Art for any of my fics (and yes, you can art Common House Tales if you REALLY want to. You will get access to more things if you're logged into AO3 since I member-lock some stories.)

Some photogenic scenes:

Way of Wishes: Little Apollo wrapping his arms around his adoptive family's merle border collie. Devon (an african american teen) holding up the blanket in Little Apollo's room and little Apollo panicked flailing in reaction. Lyra (an asian teen) clipping little Apollo's bangs up into little antenna and looking excited, Sarah presenting Apollo with his mother's bracelet. Thalassa putting Trucy's spare hat on her head when she comes out to tell the truth to Apollo and Trucy.

Patchwork Polyamory: A furious Franziska running her whip through her fingers behind a furious Daryan confronting Klavier, Apollo twirling Vera into his arms, Miles introducing Vera to Pess [the third] the chocolate Newfoundland he uses as a service dog, Godot and Iris cuddled up next to each other in bed while Lana's in the doorway with an amused expression holding a bag of burgers, Vera teaching a Franziska dressed in little girl play clothes how to finger paint, Machi giving Nick a piano lesson by chords, Klavier kneeling behind an overstimulated Apollo pressing his hands down on his shoulders while Apollo has his hands clenched in the grass of the lawn, Vera fast asleep in Apollo's lap with her head resting on his chest.

Not as Scary as You Think: An apprehensive Soma Cruz with his hand over the sapphire talisman around his neck under a torii gate while Mina gives him an encouraging smile.

Recovering: Hayate with his arm behind a scowling Sasame, helping him sit up properly, with an amused but still serious smile on his face.

Taking fate into her hands: Maureen scrawling out her letter from An Addendum to Intern Maureen's Living Will.

02. Icons/Art for my Welcome to Night Vale headcanons

Cecil: human manifestation is olive-skinned with roughly chin-length sandy brown hair usually chalk highlighted in shades of pink and purple. wears pastels mostly -- has a definite preference for shades of purple and pink. My interpretation of Cecil is a mix of eldritch Cecil (tentacles + a maneuverable shadow + the voice's remoteviewing capabilities) and fibro Cecil, so sometimes he has a wheelchair or a cane.

Carlos: My Carlos tends to be Afro-Latino, usually Afro-Peruvian or Afro-Puerto-Rican, though he has extended family in Mexico and Chile. He's also on the autistic spectrum. Clothingwise he gravitates toward either autumn plaids and science geek shirts.

Maureen: White girl with naturally brown hair. Tends to chalk highlight it in predominantly reds and oranges, but occasionally ventures into green/radioactive yellow-green. She tends to wear her hair either in a fake undercut (the faux undercut side is usually made with either a dutchback OR side french flat twists) OR in full "zombie" style curls. Clothingwise the closest outsider matches to her style are gothic punk and biker chic.

03. More readers.
