So, for NaNoWriMo I'm working on round 3 or 4 with playing with Intergalactic Urban Search and Rescue. Here's the summary from the 2014 NaNo Masterpost I made for it:

So, for NaNoWriMo this is going to be my third round working with what I'm tentatively calling Intergalactic Urban Search and Rescue (IGUSAR, for short). It's a slipstream braided speculative fiction space opera/space mission fic with episodic elements. 2/11
The ship Hallows leans more science fantasy, The ship Heartbeat leans more soft scifi/tech scifi. I'm basically scrapping half of my cast. :D Because this is SUPPOSED to be a #weneeddiversebooks book and uh... half my cast was coming across as very... whitewashed. 3/11
I did great on disability, queer, and supernatural entity visibility, but terribly on non-white characters. (I'm biracial -- white and asian). Literally IGUSAR describes EXACTLY what the cast of both ships do. They do urban search and rescue missions intergalactically. 4/11
Right now, Heartbeat is really empty. I'm thinking of scrapping all of the cast but the AI and the captain. Mostly because the AI has an interesting backstory (they were scrapped from their first crew for 'using company resources to secretly run an abandoned virtual pet 5/10
adoption agency') and I like the captain though I want a better name for them (right now they're Addison). They're an aromantic ace and genderqueer and eventually have a zucchini relationship with the ship AI mentioned above.) 6/11
Hallows is more developed as a universe. Magic exists. The MC is genderflux as a result of magic (trained magic has the side effects of [a] causing nerve inflammation with use/overuse -- for some mages this looks more like arthritis, for MC, 7/11
it actually presents more like fibro. and [b] gender and sex roulette). Inborn magic also exists in Hallows universe, but is less socially acceptable because [a] it frequently is genetically related to being an urban fantasy/supernatural creature [either full or halfling], 8/11
[b] it has less known power limits in the general society, and [c] often causes sensory disabilities to varying degrees. MC's life partner is a ghost of a thief guild member. So far I have a vampire who's visually impaired on the cast and 9/11
some sort of nature spirit (i think a dryad, but not sure) who has a sensory processing disorder. So I need some plot and character help! Give me possible urban search and rescue space missions! Give me characters with identities you'd love to see! :D 10/11

Intergalactic Urban Search and Rescue (IGUSAR) is a slipstream soft sci-fi/science fantasy universe following two parallel universe teams of space rescue workers through their interactions within their teams and in their wider universes and in some cases when the universes mesh. There are also varied service creatures, aliens and fantasy beings who appear regularly.
This universe was spawned from two ofysabetwordsmith's prompts in my companion animal fishbowl in September 2013 [ A mixed rescue team of humans and aliens trying to clear a collapsed building with a jumble of different search-and-rescue animals. & An artificial intelligence secretly adopting abandoned "virtual pets."]
, the concept and development posts that lead to The Blueshift Troupers, and a large helping of lonely prompts gathered up from current & previous Crowdfunding Creative Jams.
This collection contains backstory, the main timelines and may eventually contain non-canon crossovers potentially with: Schrodinger's Heroes, Heliodrax, Agent Dreamwriter, Willerverse, Nine for the Nebula's Heart and others.
Hallows is Dani's ship and their universe leans more science fantasy. Heartbeat is Addison's ship and their universe leans more sci fi.
