Notes: Honestly this is kinda boring. Marl is working from the Star Trek Cookbook by Ethan Phillips.
Marl grins over his new cookbook, pulling out the the supplies to make the recipe called Garret Wang's Chicken and Sundried Tomatoes. He digs through the pantry kind of glad that Jaden is really big on buying bulk at the market for seasonal things. He's working on a summer recipe though so that's nice. A large package of pasta, boneless chicken breast, pesto sauce, sundried tomatoes, garlic, salt and pepper, amd Romano cheese. He starts the pasta and then begins chopping up chicken in bite-sized sliced pieces. He sautées the garlic in olive oil and lets that heat up then drains the finished pasta and puts it aside. Then he begins to sautee the chicken in the garlic oil until the chicken browns. Then he drains the sundried tomatoes and slices them thinly. He mixes all the pasta, chicken, sundried tomatoes and pesto sauce in one bowl and sticks it in the refrigerator. While that chills he starts on a dessert from the book: Picard & Troi's Earl Grey Chocolate Cake. He gathers the butter, sugar, eggs, an Earl Grey tea infusion, self-rising cake flour and two oranges. He preheats the oven, and greases a loaf pan. While that's started he grates tne rinds of both oranges, then creams together the butter and sugar until it is light and fluffy. He adds the eggs one at a time and beats the mixture thoroughly. Then he adds the orange rinds, flour and tea and folds the batter with wooden spoon. Then he pours the batter into the loaf pan. Then he sticks it in the oven, setting the timer for 35 minutes. Then he juices the two oranges and prepares a second smaller Earl Grey infusion. And pulls out the semisweet chocolates and sets it aside as he cleans up the kitchen. When the cake timer beeps he tests the batter and the toothpick comes out clean so he removes it from the oven and lets it cool on the counter for several min then transfers it to the fridge. He does some gentle cleaning in other places of the kitchen while he waits for the cake to cool. When he removes the cooled cake and scores the top of the cooled cake to prepare it for the frosting infusion. After he does that, he begins to prepare the frosting, heating the orange juice and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Then he boils it for a couple minutes and pours it over the scored cake. Then melts chocolate and adds the second Earl Grey infusion to then melted chocolate. Then pours then chocolate over the top and makes designs in it with a fork.
