Rating: G
Word Count: 101
Line Count: 17
Original/Fandom: Original: Personal Narrative
Summary: a poem written about a cat at the MSPCA in 2013.
She cowers in the back of her condo
A fluffy ball of fur
Needs time, space, safety, quiet
But doesn’t know it the way I do
Skittish cats need places to hide
Buffers from the newness of everything
Using a quiet voice I provide
A nice soft cat cave
“Here’s a nice safe place for you sweetie.”
Gently enveloping her in it
Rearranging toys and food closer –
No need to sacrifice safety to eat or play
And cautiously I offer a hand for pets
If not now, maybe later
She’ll change her mind
Since I’ve given her time
To decide
