Food is complicated
When you're plural
And allergies and sensitivities vary
From fronter to fronter
Balancing diets, emotional needs,
money and limited cooking skills

I have to label everything
And make sure there's
At least one safe food
In our snack drawer
For everyone

Gluten-free and nut-free options
Vegan and vegetarian options
Healthy and less healthy snacks
Soft or crunchy things for the folks who get
Texture issues with a lot of foods under stress

It's not easy
But there are workarounds
For when we're out of options

Make sure that people know who
They can call up
So that no one gets sick

We're lucky that
This is an option
It isn't always possible
For other systems

But we make do
And at least
We can eat
